Men’s Swimming Team Splits Tri-Meet at Roberts Wesleyan Invitational
The Wells College men's swimming team split a tri-meet at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 16.
The Express bested the host Redhawks by 50 points with a 94-44 score, but dropped to the Pioneers of Utica College by a 149-52 score.
Wells College finished the afternoon with nine top-three finishes with seven coming in individual events.
Vincent Chen led the men's swimming team for Wells with an individual first, a pair of second places and part of a third-place relay team for the Express. Chen won the 200-yard freestyle, and was runner-up in the 100-yard freestyle and the 400-yard IM. His third-place finish came in the 200-yard medley relay with teammates Dale Paine, Jose Ramirez and Dawson Gerdon. The latter three combined with Joesph Romney for a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Gerdon finished the day with runner-up and third-place individual finishes and part of both aforementioned relays. He was second in the 100-yard breaststroke and third in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Paine and Ramirez each finished third in one event with a pair of top-three relay finishes. Paine was third in the 200-yard backstroke, while Ramirez was third in the 100-yard butterfly.
The men's swimming team next travels to SUNY Cobleskill for a tri-meet with Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 23.
