Men's Swimming All-Decade Team

The Wells College 2020 All-Decade Team in men's swimming comprises student-athletes that participated during the winter seasons between 2010-11 and 2019-20. Each member is either an individual record holder or part of a relay record and collectively the entire all-decade team can be found close to 90 times in the Wells Top-10 event times, with no one swimmer appearing in any fewer than six times.*

The 2020 All-Decade team includes (alphabetically) with completed seasons in parenthesis: Vincent Chen (2019-20), Taylor Dunn (2010-11 through 2011-12)), Zach Dvornicky-Raymond (2011-12), Tyler Fischetti (2011-12 through 2014-15), Austin Heil (2015-16 through 2017-18), Tom Laier (2011-12 through 2012-13), Alex Lamphear (2011-12 through 2014-15), Owen May (2014-15 through 2017-18), Ian Ronan (2011-12, 2016-17, 2017-18) and Matt Sleezer (2010-11 through 2013-14).

Two selections from the men's swimming all-decade team began their careers at Wells during the 2010-11 season and include Sleezer and Dunn. Dunn swam two seasons and set records in the 200 back, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay. He finished in the Wells Top-10 an additional four times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 in the 100 fly. Sleezer competed for four seasons and then joined the coaching ranks for another two. He was the team captain his senior year and member of the 2012-13 championship team and captured the following awards: Rookie of the Year Award 2010-2011, Most Valuable Swimmer 2012-2013, NEAC Male Swimmer of the Year 2012-2013, Wells Male Athlete of the Year 2012-2013 and the Express Award 2013-2014. He holds or was a part of eight records that include: 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay and the 800 free relay. He finished in the Wells Top-10 another three times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 and achieved that twice in freestyle competition at 200 and 1,000 yards.

Four other selections from the men's swimming all-decade team completed their final seasons between 2012-15 and include Laier, Fishetti, Lamphear and Dvornicky-Raymond. The later swam just one season at Wells and finished with records in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. He finished in the Wells Top-10 another four times with his highest ranking at No. 2 and achieved that twice in the 50 free and 200 breast. Laier competed for two seasons with records in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. He finished in the Wells Top-10 an additional six times with his next highest ranking at No. 3 in the 500 free. He was also a team captain and most valuable swimmer in 2011-12. Fishetti started his freshman season as the team's rookie of the year and took most valuable swimmer his senior season. He posted a 200 fly record and finished in the Wells Top-10 another seven times with his next highest ranking at No. 4 in the 400 IM. Lamphear completed four seasons at Wells and along the way won Most Valuable Swimmer 2014-2015 and was a part of the 2012-13 championship team. He posted a 500 free record and finished in the Wells Top-10 an additional 10 times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 in the 200 back.

Three selections from the men's swimming all-decade team completed their careers during the 2017-18 season and include Ronan, Heil and May. Ronan swam his first season in 2011-12 and then returned for two seasons in 2016-17 and 2017-18 as the team's captain. His success around the pool culminated when he met his future wife, Gina Ross-Detro. He was part of a record 400 medley relay team and finished in the Wells Top-10 another five times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 in the 100 breast. Heil also swam three seasons and was the team's most valuable swimmer when it won the NEAC in 2015-16. He posted a 200 free record and finished in the Wells Top-10 an additional five times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 in the 100 free. May held records in two freestyle events that included 1,000 and 1,650 yards and was the team's rookie of the year his freshman season and the team's Express award winner in his senior season. He finished in the Wells Top-10 another six times with his next highest ranking at No. 2 in the 500 free and was also part of a NEAC championship team.

The remaining member of the men's all-decade team is last year's NEAC rookie of the year, Chen. In addition to his 100 IM record, he posted nine other Wells Top-10 times with his next best event in the 100 back, where he ranks at No. 2. He also won the team's rookie award winner last season.
