Women's Soccer Scores Season-High Eight Goals In Win

The Wells College women's soccer team posted its best offensive performance of the year and won 8-0 over SUNY Cobleskill on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Cobleskill. Three Wells players scored their first-career goals in the victory.

Wells earned its first win in North Eastern Athletic Conference play this season and is 1-4-0 in the NEAC. Wells is 3-9-0 overall. SUNY Cobleskill is 0-12-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the NEAC.

The Express scored five times in the first half. Yanna Ososkalo opened the scoring with an unassisted goal. It is the second goal of the year for Ososkalo.

Madison Beriman scored on an assist from Carley Ryan in the 14th minute to double the Wells lead and Mackenzie Maloney scored the third for Wells in the 25th minute on an assist by Sammie Jones. It was the first point of the year for Jones.

The Express added two more goals in the last five minutes of the first half. Nozomu Ishida scored her first career goal on an assist from Mackenzie Maloney, and 30 seconds later Mackenzie Maloney scored the fifth goal of the game for Wells, unassisted. With two goals in the match, Mackenzie Maloney has now totaled six goals on the season.

In the second half, Savannah Olsen, Dallia Rorick, and Ishida scored for Wells. It was the first-career goals for Olsen and Rorick. Olsen's goal was assisted by Tayler Nichols and Rorick's goal was assisted by Ishida.

Quinn Doubet made one save and earned the shutout over 90 minutes of play for the Express.

Wells held a 34-1 advantage in shots and 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Express is back in action at home, Tuesday, Oct. 17 against Cazenovia College at 7 p.m.
