Women's Swimming Defeated By Utica, 147-92

AURORA, N.Y. The Wells College women's swimming team posted a 147-92 loss to the Pioneers of Utica College on Saturday at the Wells College Aquatic Center. With the loss, Wells falls to 0-2 in head-to-head meets on the year while the Pioneers improve to 2-3 on the young season. Alfred State also had two female swimmers compete in the event.

Wells saw its first top finish of the day in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle as senior Stephanie Todd (Norwich, N.Y.) registered a time of 13:00.96 in the event, earning nine points for the Express through her team's first two events. The Express also saw a first place and a second place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle as senior Olive Touron (Cato, N.Y.) posted a top time of 2:19.18 with sophomore Amelia Flint (Bath, N.Y.) finishing in 2:20.42.

Touron and Todd finished second and third, respectively, in the 50 Yard Freestyle with times of 28.17 and 30.17. Freshman Kaitlyn Schwend (San Marcos, Calif.) completed the 100 Yard Freestyle in 1:02.45, placing second amongst the talented field. Touron, Flint and Todd later finished first, second and third in the 500 Yard Freestyle with Touron leading the way with a time of 6:21.15.

Schwend secured a first place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly, registering a time of 1:07.59 to earn additional points for Wells.

In a pre-meet ceremony, the North Eastern Athletic Conference Champions from the 2013-14 Wells College women's swimming squad were recognized. Wells has won its conference meet for the third-straight year and will look to win their fourth in a row in February 2015.

The Express return to action Saturday, Nov. 15 as they face-off against St. Elizabeth and Cedar Crest at the latter's campus in Allentown, Pa. starting at 1 p.m.
