Line Halts 11 In 2-0 Loss To Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. – Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Line (Northport, N.Y.) turned aside 11 shots as the Wells College field hockey team suffered a 2-0 loss to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Express fall to 1-6 overall on the season while Anna Maria improves to 6-3 on the year.

The Express were out-shot by a 12-to-0 margin in the first half, allowing two goals to the AMCATS in the first 31 minutes of action. Kylie Dalbec and Nichole Lowe each scored for Anna Maria – Dalbec recorded both goals against the Express last season in a 2-0 loss in Aurora.

In the second half alone, Wells out-shot the host AMCATS but were unable to score against Anna Maria goalkeeper Mary Kate Breen. Defenseman Shianne Stokes (Mays Landing, N.J.) fired two shots for Wells to lead the offensive charge.

Line was saddled with her sixth loss of the season after making 11 saves on 13 shots on net. Breen secured her sixth victory in goal for Anna Maria, halting all three shots on goal that she faced.

Wells returns to action Sunday, Sept. 22 as they face-off against the Hawks of Becker College in a noontime contest.
