WELLS HOST FIRST MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY MEET

(Aurora, N.Y.)─  The Wells College men's and women's cross country teams hosted their first home meet in each of the team's history on Wednesday afternoon in Aurora. Both teams went head-to-head against Keuka College with Wells winning the men's meet 15-47, while the Wells women's team fell in close race 23-32. Brayden Shumski (Everett, Wash./Cascade) took the overall top spot in the men's meet finishing with a time of 23:57.21, while Stephanie Santamaria (Dallas, Texas/J.J. Pierce) finished third in the women's race with a time of 23:29.02.  

The men's team ran in a 4-mile race and took the top five overall spots. Sam Share finished second with a time of 25:55.67. Brandon Johnston placed third with a time of 26:15.71. Tony Petri finished fourth with a time of 26:37.29, and Chris Mahar placed with fifth with a time of 27:24.20. Rounding out the Wells men's finishers were Van Bucsko who finished 8th with a time of 28:41.62. Tim Lambert placed 9th with a time of 29:55.50, while Jeremiah Miller took 12th with a time of 33:54.48.

The women's team ran a 5-kilometer race with Santamaria leading all Wells runners. Keuka runner Chelsea Socha took the top overall spot with a time of 20:23.52. Rounding out the finishers for Wells were Brienne Goodson who placed 5th with a time of 24:58.02. Brittany Dennee finished sixth with a time of 25:56.35. Sarah Brenner placed 8th with a time of 27:03.72, while Tara Wild finished 10th with a time of 29:33.76.  

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Rochester to participate in the Robert Wesleyan Invitational beginning at 11:00 am.
