Spot Kicks Lift Morrisville Over Wells Men's Soccer

The Wells College men's soccer team scored a second-half goal to equalize against Morrisville State but the host Mustangs scored in overtime to claim a 2-1 victory over Wells on Saturday, Sept. 22.

The Mustangs improved to 4-2-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Wells is 2-7-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the NEAC. Five of the seven defeats for Wells this year are by one goal including four in overtime.

Morrisville scored in the ninth minute on a penalty kick for the only goal of the first half.

The Express tied the score in the second half when Christian Garavito tallied his sixth goal of the season, which was unassisted.

The overtime winner for Morrisville State also came on a penalty kick.

Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith had five saves in the match. Total shots were 19-17 in Morrisville's favor. Each team had three corner kicks.

The Express will play road games in conference play next weekend. Wells is at Gallaudet on Sept. 29 and at Lancaster Bible on Sept. 30.
