Freshman Spotlight : Lauren Spiegel

The Wells College athletics department closes out the 2020 calendar year with a series of first-year freshmen athlete profiles. Today's feature is field hockey midfielder Lauren Spiegel.

Lauren Spiegel is a freshman on the Wells College field hockey team. The Ballston Lake, N.Y. health sciences and nutrition major is one of two new midfielders for head coach Jessica Galatioto.

Lauren competed in the largest New York State Public High School Athletic Association classification in both field hockey and lacrosse. There, she helped capture a pair of suburban council titles and a pair of Section II title appearances.

Lauren's span of nearly a decade of field hockey competition includes five years with a premier field hockey club from the upstate/capital region, ADK Field Hockey of New York. She also has participated in lacrosse for the past seven seasons.

Academically, Lauren was a four-time scholar athlete recipient with high honors. She is also a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta for mathematics.

What stands out from her first season at Wells was the multiple bonding opportunities with new teammates and the time spent together with the team.

Coach Galatioto added, "Lauren is joining us from Shenendehowa High School and ADK Field Hockey. Her hard work ethic and constant search for improvement is already infectious among the rest of the team."
