Women's Volleyball Wins Home Opener

Wells College women's volleyball hosted Elmira College on Tuesday night for one of their final non-conference matchups.

After the two teams each won one of the first two sets, the third set went right down to the wire taking extra points to finish.  The two teams were knotted up at 24 apiece when Wells got a service ace from Serina Soto. After a two-point rally from Elmira, Alycia Wilson finished off the set with a service ace to take a 2-1 lead over Elmira.

The Express dropped the fourth set which sent us to a fifth deciding set. The final set was a tight contest with neither team gaining a lead larger than 2 until Elmira jumped out to 14-11 forcing a Wells timeout. After the time out, Elmira started with a service error and Lexi Carfi served up back-to-back aces. Finally, Miah Williamson finished off Elmira with a kill giving the Express the win 16-14.

Up next for volleyball is a match next Thursday vs SUNY Poly.
