Women's Volleyball Falls to La Roche in Postseason Play

Wells College women's volleyball hosted a first-round game of the AMCC Championship Tournament on Wednesday night.

The #4 Express hosted the #5 La Roche University RedHawks who earlier in the year, took down the Express 2-3 at La Roche.

After falling to the RedHawks in the first set (25-15), the Express brought some much-needed energy to the second. In the second set, they had 18 kills to La Roche's 8 but also 9 errors to La Roche's 1. That helped the RedHawks build a 2-0 lead (25-21) as we headed into the third set. In the third set, the Express said they would not go quietly with Marta Corral Cajigas and Miah Williamson sending home multiple kills each to help win the third set, 25-20. To start the fourth set the Express fell behind 6-1. They were able to battle all the way back and take a 16-13 lead over the RedHawks forcing a timeout. After the timeout, thanks to some errors from the Express, La Roche went on a 12-5 run to escape with a win in the third set and take down the Express 3-1.

Miah Williamson and Marta Corral Cajigas both had 18 kills. Brianah Dawson had 22 assists and Sarina Soto has 18 assists. Elayna McDermott led all defenders with 18 digs.

That wraps up the season for women's volleyball who finish with a 12-17 overall record while going 5-5 in the conference.

Congratulations and thank you to Miah Williamson and Shiori Kawasaki!
