Senior Spotlight: Jordan Jacobs

Senior Spotlight: Jordan Jacobs

As Wells College puts a close to its fall 2020 season, the athletics department spotlights its fall student-athletes during Senior Week. Today, the athletics department is proud to feature from the women's soccer team, Jordan Jacobs.

Jordan is a health sciences; pre-veterinary medicine major from Tannersville, N.Y., who has been part of the women's soccer team the past two seasons. Last season, Jordan was named the team's most improved. Jordan has also participated in other Wells College athletic teams including softball and basketball.

At the annual athletics award show last May, Coach Mara Primmer added the following about Jordan in presenting her with the women's soccer team's most improved award,"After taking a two-year hiatus and watching from the other side of the field, Jordan thought she was joining the team this year to play in goal, but little did she know that a month later that she'd be earning a starting spot on our backline and find a new passion for playing in the field. Always working and always asking questions to get better, Jordan became an integral part of our team."

Wells assistant women's soccer coach Erin Persons had the following to add about Jordan, " Although Jordan joined the team in her junior year, she has been a great asset. Her work ethic on the field is always high. She never shows any fear when going after a ball or 50/50 challenge. I'm sad we weren't able to play in competitions this season and wasn't able to see the great potential she has on the field. Many thanks to Jordan for her work and time on the team, she will be missed. I wish her the best of luck in all her future endeavors!"

Why did you choose Wells College?

I chose wells because on my Henry Wells overnight visit, the basketball team made me feel like home, Coach Ruckh is an amazing coach to have, and I absolutely love the campus.

What is your favorite memory at Wells College as a student-athlete?

My favorite memory would be watching the men's team win their senior night game last year.

What are your plans after Wells College?

I plan on attending veterinary school, if I get accepted. Otherwise, I plan on moving to Florida and working for a zoo as a zookeeper.

What advice would you give to the next person wearing your number?

Please always work your hardest. No matter how down you get on yourself or how much you do not want to run the extra down and back, push through it and show your coach that you are willing to put in the work and effort.

If you had a favorite class during your time at Wells College, what was it and why was it your favorite?

My favorite class would have to be organic chemistry. I have always been a science person and professor Burwell is the most amazing professor. She was able to make the class easier to understand and retain.

What will you miss the most about being a student-athlete at Wells College?

I will miss being able to walk out of practice and see the sunset over the lake. I will miss being able to sit with my teammates and friends at dinner in the dining hall. I will also miss being able to talk with my coaches at any time of the day.
