Freshman Spotlight : Lydia Thomas

The Wells College athletics department closes out the 2020 calendar year with a series of first-year freshmen athlete profiles. Today's feature is women's soccer midfielder and forward Lydia Thomas.

Lydia Thomas is a freshman on the Wells College women's soccer team. The Colton, N.Y. health science major is one of two new midfielder/forwards for head coach Patrick Arancio.

Lydia brings a playoff success record from Madrid-Waddington High School, where she helped her team advance to the post-season soccer championship finals in NYSPHAA Section X play during her final two seasons and obtain accolades of one title and one runner-up championship.

Lydia participated in both soccer and basketball in all four years of high school and was awarded a sportsmanship award by the Yellowjackets.

Academically, Lydia was a member of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Honor Society.

What stands out from her first season at Wells was the chemistry she experienced with the Wells women's soccer team's and its ability to come together as practices intensified throughout the fall.
