Women’s Soccer Team Moves to 1-1 in Conference Play

Just one day after the Wells College women's soccer team hosted a thrilling overtime opening-conference Express victory, Wells hosted St. Mary's from Maryland, who entered the contest on a three-game unbeaten streak.

The Seahawks, who are the newest member to the conference, scored five goals in the first half half to take the game in Wells' second conference game this season for the newly-formed United East. The second half was much closer with just a pair of goals separating the two teams.

The Express recorded 21 saves during the contest with Wells goalkeeper Jennifer McCumber finishing with 20.

It was McCumber's fifth game this season with double-digit saves and second with 20 or more. Today's total put the senior over the century mark in saves for the season with 110 and also put her over 300 for her career with 305.

Recording a defensive save for Wells was Morgan Gingras.

The women's soccer team next travels to Penn College on Saturday, Sept. 25 with a 3 p.m. start.
