Women’s Volleyball Records 3-0 Loss At Ithaca

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Wells College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 loss to the Bombers of Ithaca College Wednesday evening at the Ben Light Gymnasium. With the loss, the Express fall to 5-23 overall on the season while the Bombers improve to 14-19 overall on the year. Wells was dropped in straight sets via scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-15.

On the match, freshman Stephanie Parker (Dryden, N.Y.) posted six kills to lead the team in that category. Sophomore Gina Cairns (Delhi, N.Y.) was second on the squad with five while primary setter Taryn Heath (Homer, N.Y.) chipped in with four kills. Heath also assisted 12 of her team's 17 kills while leading the team defensively with nine digs overall. Freshman Zakarra Butts (Cortland, N.Y.) registered eight digs total across the three sets.

For Ithaca, the Bombers were led by Justine Duryea's 13 kills in 22 total attacks for a team-leading .545 hitting percentage. As a team, Ithaca racked up 43 kills against only 11 errors in 90 total chances, hitting a combined .356 in the victory. Molly Brown and Carly Garone recorded 18 and 16 assists, respectively, while the latter contributed defensively with nine digs on the match.

Wells concludes their second season as a varsity program this Saturday, Nov. 2 as they face-off against Keuka College and the host Oswego State College Lakers in a 1:00 p.m. contest at the Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego, N.Y.
