LAKERS SHUTOUT EXPRESS

Aurora, NY Kimm Hiffa scored in the final minute of the first half as the Oswego State Lakers held on for a 1-0 victory over the Wells field hockey team on Tuesday afternoon at Wells. Martha Knowlan led the Express with four saves in the loss. The loss drops Wells to 1-10 on the year while the Lakers improve to 6-8.

Awarded a penalty corner with 55-seconds remaining in the first half, the Lakers would take advantage of a scramble in front of the net as Hiffa was able to drive home a loose ball for the 1-0 lead an eventual game winning goal.

Paige Corneby led the Express offense with two shots on goal, while Nicole Montgomery, Shelby Moszkowicz, and Madeline Bass each tallied a shot on the day.

The Lakers outshot the Express 10-5 and held an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners for the game.

The Express will next travel to SUNY New Paltz on Friday, October 23rd at 4:30 pm at New Paltz.
