Men's Soccer Falls In Season Opener

Men's Soccer Falls In Season Opener

The Wells College men's soccer team opened their season on the road this evening at Medaille College where they fell by a score of 9-0 in a non-conference match-up.

The Express fell behind early in this one when Fernandez for the Mavericks scored in the 6th minute of play to take the first lead of the game. This would open the floodgates in the Express defense and the Mavericks took advantage. Goals would go on to be scored by Sean Burke, Ander Castillo (3), Bryce Koagel (2), and Sean Graham, in the first half alone. At the half, the Express were down by a score of 7-0.

Wells would take no corner kicks on the day, and take only 2 shots on goal while committing 11 fouls. They would be out shot by 20. First-year goalie Sean Nemeth allowed 9 total goals while coming up with 13 total saves.

Wells College men's soccer will host their home opener this Sunday against Nazareth.
