Softball Opens Conference Play On The Road

Wells College softball hit the road for Gallaudet University to open up United East conference play with a doubleheader in Washington, DC.

In game one, the Express were in a big hole early falling behind 8-0 after just the first two innings of play. The Bison would continue to add to their lead in the fourth inning putting up 5 more runs. The only hit of game one for the Express came in the top of the first inning off the bat of Natalie Day. Wells College fell in game one, 14-0.

Game two was a different story for wells College. In the top off the first Serina Sheradin scored on a error by the pitcher and right fielder that also sent home Shanyce Gonzales and Natalie Day. Later in the inning, Sara Mattle scored on a wild pitch and the Express went up 4-0. The Bison answered right back with 4 runs of their own in the bottom of the first. Wells College would get on the board again in the second inning when a SAC fly from Sara Mattle scored Lauren Kimball. In the second, third, and fourth inning the Bison pushed across a combined 6 runs to take a 10-5 lead. In the 5th, a Natalie Day walk forced in a run, and in the 6th an Anna Bernatavitz ground out also scored a run but it was not enough for Wells College. They fell to the Bison in game two, 10-7.

Softball will be back in action tomorrow at Lancaster Bible College for a doubleheader starting at 1 PM.
