Softball Takes On Penn State Abington

Wells College softball was back in action for the second day in a row on their road trip, this time against Penn State Abington.

Game one saw the Express struggle offensively not being able to produce a hit against Abington. Their host added seven of their nine runs in the first inning and two more in the third. Sara Mattle pitched a complete game giving up ten hits. Wells College fell in game one, 9-0.

In game two, the Express struck first in the top of the third. Diamond Robinson-Wilson singled to short stop followed by a single from Shay Gonzales. Lauren Kimball advanced both runners with a ground out. Then Serina Sheradin batted in both runners with a single to center field giving Wells a 2-0 lead. Sara Mattle held Penn State Abington for much of the game until Abington scratched across the leading run in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh Wells stranded two base runners and fell 3-2 in game two.

Softball will return home for two games against Clarks Summit Monday starting at 3 PM.
