Express Fall to Elmira in 2nd of Back-to-Back Doubleheaders

Express softball traveled to Elmira on a clear Saturday morning for their 3rd and 4th matchups within the span of a day. Less than 24 hours after battling SUNY Cobleskill twice in the chilly New York climate, the Express boarded the bus and voyaged to Elmira for another 2-game set. Despite battling and adjusting to so much game action in such little time, the Wells softball squad fell to Elmire by scores of 10-0 and 9-1.

Isabella Boissonnault had a good day at the plate, getting two important center-field singles while also stealing a base and providing the Express with the opportunity to create some run scoring opportunites.

The Wells women created an excellent opportunity in the 5th inning of Game 2, as a Morgan Brown bunt single followed by a Boissonault single and stolen base set up Taylor Robinson for a huge at-bat with runners at 2nd and 3rd and 2 outs. Robinson used her decisive plate discipline to draw a walk and load the bases for one of the Express' premier first years; Josie Krieman.

Krieman proceeded to belt a single into right field, scoring Brown and giving the Express some life, although a bad break during the next at bat would cause them to only get one run in the inning.

Up next, the Express begin their debut season in AMCC Conference play when they welcome the Hilbert Hawks to Aurora on Wednesday for a mid-week doubleheader.
