Lancaster Bible Charges Past Women’s Volleyball, 3-0

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Wells College women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College Saturday evening at the Horst Athletic Center to begin the third week of NEAC Pool Play. With the defeat, the Express fall to 2-25 overall and to 1-8 within North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Chargers collect their seventh conference victory (7-3) while improving to 13-17 overall on the year.

The Chargers of Lancaster Bible College collected the sweep via set scores of 25-8, 25-14 and 25-21. The Chargers posted the decisive first set victory by hitting a collective .444 in the opener, converting 11-of-18 attacks for kills while committing only three miscues on the offensive size of the ball. On the evening, the Express hit .200 while committing only 17 total errors.

For the Express, outside hitter Katie Curtin (Cassville, N.Y.) led the team with eight kills while primary setter Taryn Heath (Homer, N.Y.) led the team with nine assists to her credit. Both Curtin and Heath tied for the team lead with eight digs apiece. Collectively, the Express posted 36 digs in the game. Curtin also recorded two solo blocks on the evening.

Lancaster Bible was led by Lauren Daniels who hammered home 12 kills for a .241 hitting percentage. Hannah Metzler assisted with 19 of the team's 30 kills while Lauren Heliger racked up 13 digs across three sets. Daniels also matched Curtin's game total with two solo blocks.
