Express Slow to Start but Ignite in the End

Aurora, N.Y.  The Wells Express softball team took on SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday to end their conference play.  In a two game series, the Express offense took a slow start but would explode in the end.

In game one, Cobleskill would be first on the board with a solo homerun from Noelle Gushlaw.  The Express would battle at the plate but only earn three hits.  Later in the game, Cobleskill would tack on five more runs putting the game out of reach for the Express.  In game one the final score would be 6-0 Cobleskill.

In game two, the Express's offensive struggles would disappear as they pounded out eighteen hits scoring ten runs.  The Express was led by their senior Alyson Mann who had a brilliant showing on the mound and at the plate on her Senior Day.  Aly would go 4-4 at the plate and on the mound only give up two runs putting the Express on top.  Freshman Charlee Weidman, junior Alyssa Acquaviva, and senior Juli Vibbard would go three for four at the plate totaling six of the Express's runs.  Juli Vibbard had an excellent performance at second base to give the Express a 10-2 victory over Cobleskill.
