Bio

Grace Van Horn was named the Head Coach of Softball at Wells College in September of 2022.

Before beginning at Wells, Van Horn spent 4 years as an assistant coach for the Southern Cayuga High School varsity softball program. Van Horn also continues to give private lessons to youth players from all around the Central New York area, an endeavor she's been pursuing for 7 years. Van Horn also works very closely with several travel organizations in the area as a pitching coach.

A celebrated pitcher of Union Springs High School, Van Horn received wide recognition for her outstanding play, achieving great honors such as: being named twice as an All-State selection; three-time ESPN Softball Athlete of the Year; four-time Citizen Softball All-Star; and the first softball student athlete in the district history to be offered a scholarship to play at the NCAA Division I level where she played for St. Bonaventure University and later NCAA Division II Oklahoma Baptist University.

Van Horn received her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from University of Buffalo in 2020. She then went on to receive her MBA in May of 2022.

Since graduating, Van Horn has pursued her passion for the sport of softball by coaching at several levels including being a pitching coach for the aforementioned Southern Cayuga High School and the U17 Red Wave travel team who won the 2021 district championship.

Previous Wells College Director of Athletics Mike Lindberg had this to say about Van Horn: “Coach Van Horn brings with her extraordinary talent and knowledge in the sport of softball and player development. Her local roots to the community and connections with softball make her the ideal leader for our program.”

The Express softball team is a member of the AMCC and underwent their debut season in the conference during the 2024 season. Before that they participated in the United East Conference.
