Wells Field Hockey Falls To Oswego State

The Wells College field hockey team hosted a non-conference opponent and fell by a 4-1 score against Oswego State on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Wells Turf Field in Aurora, N.Y. It was the 41st all-time meeting between Wells and Oswego State, the oldest and most-frequently played rivalry in the history of the Wells College field hockey program.

Oswego State opened the scoring in the first half on a shot from the top of the circle, through traffic. That was the only goal of the first half.

Wells tied the score early in the second half as Kate Wells passed to Kelly Mason inside the right side of the circle, and Mason's shot from 14 yards scored inside the right post. That tied the score 1-1 in the 40th minute.

Four minutes later, Oswego State regained the lead, and the Lakers added two more goals in the second half.

Wells goalkeeper Allison Solomon had 16 saves, and Ivy Cromp and Abby Gilson each had five saves.

Wells has a mid-week road game at Keystone College on Wednesday at 4 p.m. and the Express returns home Saturday, Sept. 23 against Houghton College at 4 p.m.
