Hartwick Defeats Wells Field Hockey

The Wells College field hockey team played its final home game of the 2017 season and fell by a 6-0 score against Hartwick College on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Wells Turf Field.

Hartwick improved to 11-5 on the season and Wells is 2-14. The Hawks scored twice in the first half and added four goals in the second half.

Wells goalkeeper Allison Solomon made 14 saves. She has made double-digit saves in 11 of the 16 games this year. Ivy Cromp made one defensive save.

The game slowed down Wells' resurgent offense that scored at least two goals in six straight games.

Wells had a good scoring chance in the second half when a pass was sent across the face of goal, and a back-post deflection for the Express went in, but it was ruled to have been illegally deflected in with a foot.

The Express concludes the 2017 season Friday, Oct. 27 with a 4 p.m. road game at St. Lawrence University.
