Women's Volleyball Splits Conference Matches At Gallaudet

The Wells College women's volleyball team opened a weekend of two North Eastern Athletic Conference matches with a three-set win over Wilson College on Saturday, Oct. 15 in matches hosted this weekend by Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Set scores were 25-14, 25-12, 25-10.

On Sunday, Gallaudet won in four sets over Wells. Set scores were 25-19, 21-25, 33-31, 25-23.

Wells is 15-6 overall and 7-2 in the conference. The Express return home for a Wednesday night non-conference match against Oswego State at 6:30 p.m. at the Schwartz Center.

Wells 3, Wilson 0

Meredith Kadjeski led a balanced statistical effort with eight kills as 14 Wells players saw action in the match. Wells had 35 kills and 13 errors on 94 attempts for a .234 hitting percentage.

Renee Bartosz had 12 assists and Kasie Stamp had 10 assists. Wells served 13 aces in the match led by three each from Bartosz and Kadjeski. Stamp had 10 digs and Olyvia Brazier had nine.

Gallaudet 3, Wells 1

Sunday's match is a rematch of the 2015 NEAC playoff semifinal game between Wells and Gallaudet, won by the Bison in four sets. During the 2015 regular season, Wells handed Gallaudet its only loss in NEAC play.

The 2016 meeting was another close one, as the final two sets were decided by two points, including a 33-31 third-set win for Gallaudet that gave the Bison a 2-1 lead in the match.

Wells was led by 17 kills from Jackie Allen, who hit .275 for the match. Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had 13 kills. Eliza Schwab had 45 assists.

Renee Bartosz led Wells with three service aces, as the Express had five aces over the course of the match. Five Express played had double-digit digs on the afternoon as Nadine Pershyn led the way with 19 digs, Olyvia Brazier had 16, Schwab had 15, Leite-Ah Yo had 13 and Allen added 11.

Meredith Kadjeski had one solo block and one assisted block.
