Volleyball Team Records Win at Bengal Tournament

The Wells College women's volleyball team started the second day of the Buffalo State Bengal Tournament with a 3-1 win against Cazenovia College on Saturday, Sept. 18.

Sandwiched between that victory was an opening-day 3-0 defeat to Alfred University on Friday, Sept. 17 and a matinee matchup against host Buffalo State that the Express dropped 3-1 on Sept. 18.

Morgan Adams was named to the all-tournament team and joined Cazenovia's Kimberly Rodriguez, Medaille's Haley Kennedy, Houghton's Alyssa Lyon, Buffalo State's Liz Schultheis and Samantha Coakley, and Alfred's Honor Edmands, Sarah Raeman and Darian Ortiz as all-tournament selections, with the latter named tournament MVP.

In the Express' 3-1 win (25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19) over Cazenovia, Roosa Armstead-Lehti led the team in digs with 22. Other team leaders were Caroline Barr with 11 kills, Lexi Carfi with 18 assists and Sasha Lamoree with four service aces. Barr, Makenzie Drown and Tori Sanders finished with a pair of blocks each with the latter two recording solo blocks.

In the Express' 3-1 loss to Buffalo State (19-25, 25-22, 13-25, 8-25), all-tournament selection Adams had a team-high 11 kills, while Lamoree registered 21 assists and Armstead-Lehti had nine digs.

In the Friday defeat to Alfred (25-18, 25-17, 25-16), Armstead-Lehti was the lone Express player to record a double-digit stat with 14 digs.

Wells next hosts Medaille College for its first home match since 2019. The match is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 25 with a 1 p.m. start.
