Women’s Volleyball Team Makes it Two in a Row

The Wells College women's volleyball team made it two-in-a-row after defeating visiting Elmira College at the Frances Tarlton Farenthold Athletic Wing in the Schwartz Athletic Center on Wednesday, Sept. 29.

Elmira entered the contest with a .666 winning percentage on the season and it was Wells' first win of the season over a .500 opponent that displayed the growth the team has made after taking three of its last four matches.

Wells never trailed in the contest after taking a 25-22 opening-set lead. Elmira tied the match after a 25-10 second-set win, but the Express responded by taking the next two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-19 to win the match.

Lexi Carfi led Wells in kills with 15 and Mackenzie Drown added five kills with a .556 killing percentage, while adding a team-high pair of blocks to help the team to victory.

Sasha Lamoree aided the attack with two dozen assists while also adding a pair of aces.

Defensively, three players finished with double-digit digs. Caroline Barr had a team-high 16 and Roosa Armstead-Lehti added 12. Lamoree finished with 11 digs and Carfi was one shy of joining the double-digit club with nine, but had a team-high 15.5 points for Wells.

The Express look to make it three-in-a-row at home when SUNY Oswego visits the Frances Tarlton Farenthold Athletic Wing in one week on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m.
