Field Hockey Team’s Second Half Rally Falls Short

The Wells College field hockey team played one of its most competitive 30 minutes of the season against visiting Centenary University on Sept. 11.

Just one goal separated the Express and the Cyclones in the second half as Wells showed no quit despite falling behind by four after the first half.

Wells came out of the halftime break and played Centenary even in the third with each team scoring once and played a fourth quarter with the Cyclones besting the Express by a single goal.

Clara Lima led the team in shots on net with three, with a pair of shots on goal each coming from Grace Kahl and Lauren Spiegel with all three finding the scoresheet.

Spiegel finished the contest as the Express' top scorer with a goal and an assist. Kahl also scored for Wells and Lima picked up an assist.

Wells' goalkeeper Samya Anderson-Victor finished with a dozen saves with eight coming in the final quarter.

Wells next plays tomorrow and hosts Earlham College at 11 a.m. on Sept. 12.
