The Express and the Gators match up under the lights!

It was a chilly, but exciting night under the lights on the Wells College turf field when the Wells Express hosted the Russell Sage College!

Tonight, Wells College is playing in honor of National breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, the Express are raising funds to support the Susan G Komen foundation of Upstate New York. Donations have been made through their GoFundMe page, as well as different initiatives on campus including selling pink sprinkles at The Grind and giving bracelets with a $2 donation. 100% of proceeds will be donate to the cause. The team will be fundraising through the end of the month. Visit their social Media Pages for more information.

The Gators of Russell Sage got out to a quick lead 1-0 when 3 minutes into the game they scored their first goal. The Express pushed the ball constantly into the Gators defense and at the 7th minute Lauren Spiegel scored for the Express making it a 1-1 game at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter saw only one goal and it came from the Gators giving them a slight edge over the Express and a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. Despite a few scoring opportunities and non-stop defensive effort, the Express surrendered 2 more goals to the Gators and lost at home by a score of 4-0.

That wraps up the season for the Wells Express Field Hockey team! Stay tuned next week for a season recap!
