Wells Field Hockey Edged 2-1 At Nazareth

The Wells College field hockey team went on the road for the third consecutive game and fell by a 2-1 score at Nazareth College in Rochester on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The Express now stands at 1-3 on the season and Nazareth improved to 1-2. Wells plays at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against St. Lawrence.

The Express took the lead in the first half on an unassisted goal from Kate Wells, her second goal of the season, in the 15th minute. The Golden Flyers tied the score four and a half minutes later. Nazareth held a 10-6 advantage in shots in the opening 35 minutes and a slight 4-3 edge in penalty corners as the game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

The only goal of the second half was scored by Nazareth's Leah Good, on an assist from Jennifer Hilts in the 51st minute.

Wells goalkeeper Kelsey Kokosa made her second consecutive start and made 10 saves in the game. Nazareth outshot Wells 24-11 in the contest.
