Men’s Lacrosse Team’s Rally Stalls in Second Half

The Wells College men's lacrosse team dropped its final regular season road contest by an 11-2 score at La Roche University on Saturday, April 17.

The Express went down by a 3-0 first quarter score before the team rallied with a pair of goals to get within two at 4-2 late in the second quarter. Wells couldn't get anything going in the second half, while the Redhawks added a half-dozen goals to account for the rest of the scoring.

Quinten Battle (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) assisted on Jacob Stine's (N. Tonawanda, N.Y.) goal before adding an unassisted tally for Wells. Faceoff wins hindered the team's rally as the Express only won 4-of-15 with Battle getting three of the four wins. The junior standout also added four groundballs.

Wells outshot La Roche by a 34-33 margin with 27 of the 34 shots coming from three players that included Stine (10), Battle (9) and Trevor Stein (8) (Spencerport, N.Y). The Express finished with nine caused turnovers with Benjamin McMonagle (Rome, N.Y.) leading the way with a pair.

Stein and Jeronimo Camou (Greenwich, N.Y.) each had a team-best five groundballs, while three each came from Justin Dude (Hilton, N.Y), Dan Stevens (Williamsville, N.Y.) and McMonagle. Camou finished the contest with four saves from 15 shots on net.

The men's lacrosse team prepares for its regular season home finale and Senior Day next Saturday, April 24 against Penn College.
