Women's Volleyball Earns a Split at SUNY Poly

Wells College women's volleyball traveled to the SUNY Poly invitational on Saturday. they defeated their host, SUNY Poly, 3-0 but fell to St Joseph's of CT, 2-3.

Up first for the Express on Saturday was the Blue Jay's of St Joseph's. This match-up ended going up 5 sets. St Joseph's would win the 1st and second with the Express winning the next two sets. Also, two out of the first four sets would go into extra points. Neither team wanted to give an inch heading into the 5th and final set. Wells College would find themselves down 4-0 to start the 5th set. They battled to tie the score up at 7. Despite some late kills from Morgan Adams and Miah Williamson, the Blue Jays would take this one 15-11.

Next up for the Express was their host for the day, SUNY Poly. Last season the Express fell at home 3-1 to SUNY Poly and it seemed today, that the Express had not forgotten that. Wells College took it to the Wildcats right away and did not give in. In all 3 sets, the Express never allowed the Wildcats to gain more than 14 points. Wells College hammered in 31 kills to the Wildcats' 21 and served up 27 assists to the Wildcats' 21. It would be a beautiful team effort from Wells College as they got some revenge on SUNY Poly defeating them 3-0 in 3 straight sets.

Women's Volleyball will be back home in action this Tuesday when they host Utica University.
