Two Wins For Women's Volleyball

The Wells College women's volleyball team took two more victories on Saturday, Oct. 21 at matches hosted by SUNY Cobleskill. In a North Eastern Athletic Conference match, Wells defeated SUNY Cobleskill 3-0, and in a non-conference match, Wells beat Alfred State 3-1.

The Express has won five of its last seven matches and is 16-11 overall, 7-1 in the NEAC, and finished with a perfect 6-0 record against NEAC North Division opponents. Wells won the North Division and will host a NEAC quarterfinal game Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.

Wells concludes the regular season this week with a Wednesday match at Oswego and home matches Saturday against Bryn Athyn College and St. John Fisher.

Wells 3, SUNY Cobleskill 0

Wells won in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-12, 25-11. Rachel Anderson had 12 kills with a .478 hitting percentage and added a solo block and two block assists. Olyvia Brazier had 10 kills and five service aces and 14 digs. Amanda Springer added eight kills, two aces, and one solo block.

Setter Eliza Schwab had 28 assists, three aces, 11 digs and one solo block.

Wells totaled 21 aces as a team, third-most in a single match in program history.

Wells 3, Alfred State 0

The Express won 25-12, 25-18, 14-25, 25-20. With 43 assists in the match, Eliza Schwab passed 3,000 career assists. She is the program's all-time leader in career assists.

Olyvia Brazier had 14 kills and Amanda Springer had 11 kills. Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo had four aces and Ambyr Shallow served three aces. Leite-Ah Yo had 21 digs to lead the Express. Schwab and Jackie Allen had 15 digs each. Schwab added two solo blocks.
