Women's Volleyball Claims Four-Set Win At Oswego

The Wells College women's volleyball team earned a non-conference road victory with a four-set triumph at Oswego State on Wednesday, Oct. 25. Wells took the first, third, and fourth sets. Set scores were 26-24, 14-25, 25-20, 25-21.

Wells trailed 18-12 in the first set but won six of the next seven points to get back to within one point. The Express took a 22-20 lead, but Oswego State scored three points in a row. Wells had set points at 24-23 and 25-24, with the set-point clincher coming on a kill by Olyvia Brazier.

Oswego State won the second set 25-14.

In the third set, Wells jumped out to a 10-6 lead but the Lakers rallied to tie it 10-10. Wells led 20-19 and closed the set by winning five of six points, all five points coming via errors from Oswego State.

The fourth set was tied eight times. Wells won the final three points on two kills by Jackie Allen and a service ace by Eliza Schwab.

Stats leaders for Wells were Olyvia Brazier with 10 kills and Jackie Allen with nine kills. Eliza Schwab had 22 assists and Jordan Stoops had 10. Wells served seven aces, with three of them coming from Annabelle Lee. Anuhea Leite-Ah Yo, Stoops, and Allen had eight digs each. Amanda Springer had one solo block and two block assists.

Wells improved to 17-11 and Oswego State is 11-16. Wells closes its regular season Saturday, Oct. 28 with home matches against Bryn Athyn College at noon and St. John Fisher at 2 p.m. Prior to the noon match, Wells will honor its four-member senior class.

The Express will host a North Eastern Athletic Conference playoff match Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.
