Baseball Team Drops Pair to Penn State Abington

The Wells College baseball team dropped a pair of conference games to visiting Penn State Abington on Wednesday, April 28. Penn State Abington and Penn State Harrisburg are the top-two teams in the North Eastern Athletic Conference and each team has just one conference loss.

Wells played better in the matinee matchup despite falling by a 10-4 score. After PS Abington went up by six runs, the Express cut the deficit in half with three runs in the fourth inning.

Derek Shea (West Kingston, R.I.) recorded four of the team's eight hits and scored a pair of runs. Shea had a pair of extra base hits with a double and a triple. Zack Odum (Elmira, N.Y.) finished with a pair of hits, while Kevin Spaeth (Haddon Heights, N.J.) and Ian Crawford (Syracuse, N.Y.) rounded out the Express hitters.

In addition to Shea's two runs, Dylan Nolan (Brick, N.J.) and Zack Odum (Elmira, N.Y.) also scored while Austin Jordan (Kane, Pa.) suffered the loss from the hill after 2 2/3 innings of work with a pair of strikeouts.

In the first game, the highlight for the Express was a three-run fifth inning. Wells plated five hits that came from Max Odum (Elmira, N.Y.), Zack Odum, Aaron Izquierdo (Palisades Park, N.J.), Shea and Crawford.

Max Odum scored two of the Wells runs with single runs from Shea and Justin Colindres (Clifton, N.J.).

Luke Eitner (N. Lehigh, Pa.) took the pitching loss after four innings of work with a pair of strikeouts.

Wells prepares for its final regular season conference doubleheader on Friday, April 30 against visiting Penn State Harrisburg.
