Wells College Trio Named to NEAC Baseball All-Conference Team

LATHAM, N.Y. - The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2021 Baseball All-Conference Teams with three Wells College players having been named. The Express led the conference in second-team selections with a conference-best three that included Dylan Nolan (Brick, N.J), Derek Shea (West Kingston, R.I.) and Jared Strait (Lansing, N.Y).

Nolan led the Express in extra-base hits with 13, putouts with 198 and tied-first in RBI with 21 as the team's starting catcher. Both Nolan's putout and extra base totals but him in the top-10 in those categories in the NEAC. The senior finished second on the team in slugging percentage with .426, stolen bases with 10 and total bases with 40 with a fielding percentage of .986.

Shea led Wells in hits with 33, batting average with .418, on-base percentage with .526, slugging percentage with .646, total bases with 51 and tied-first in RBI with 21 as the team's designated hitter and with some time on the mound. The senior finished in the NEAC top-10 in six categories that included: hits, extra-base hits, batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and fielding percentage. Shea finished second on the team in extra-base hits with 12.

Strait finished in the top-five in the NEAC in ERA, wins, strikeouts and innings pitched and led the conference in the latter two. The senior hurler finished with 68 strikeouts in 56 innings and tied for the conference lead in wins with a 4.02 ERA and was named the conference's pitcher of the week during the season.

 All-Conference is composed of two teams, with 12 players regardless of position making up each team.

The conference has awarded Bret Williams (Penn State Harrisburg) as its player of the year, Drew Harshbarger (Penn State Harrisburg) as its pitcher of the year, Justin Fogel (Penn State Abington) as its rookie of the year and Josh Copskey (Penn State Abington) as coach of the year.
