After playing for 5 straight days in Myrtle Beach, the Wells College baseball team stopped at Gallaudet University in D.C. for a 3 game series this weekend.
The Express went 0-5 in Myrtle Beach and looked to start to turn things around as the opened-up conference play this weekend.
On Friday, Wells jumped all over the Bison early when Zac Legaretta tripled and sent home Mills, Izquierdo, and M. Odum. Gallaudet ended top tying the game at 3 in the bottom of the second and then the game was tied once more in the bottom of the third, 4-4. In the bottom of the 4th, Express pitcher Chase Sebastian got into a little trouble and the Bison grabbed a 7-5 lead which held steady for 3 innings. In the 8th, Max Odum, Bradley Mills, and Zac Legaretta all drive in runs giving the Express a lead that would eventually help them secure the road win over the Bison, 10-8 in game 1.
Game 2 Saturday afternoon was started by Luke Eitner for the Express. He had a great outing going 6.1 innings, giving up only 5 hits, 1 run, and striking out 3. The Express offense was hot the whole game as Zack Odum drove in 4 runs, Aaron Izquierdo drove in 4 runs, Bradly Mills drove in 2, and Juan Correa drove in 2. Zack Odum had a great game at the plate going 2 for 2 with 3 runs scored, 2 hits, 4 RBI's and 3 walks. The Express won their second game in a row by a score of 15-1 over the Bison.
The 3rd game of the series was the second of a doubleheader Saturday. It could not have started out any worse for the Express when the Bison put up 11 runs in the first inning giving Wells a big hole to dig themselves out of.
