Wells Baseball 2022 Season Recap

The Wells College baseball team wrapped their season on the road last week against Elmira College. 

They finished their season with a 9-28 overall record and went 3-17  in conference play in the United East. 

The Express started the season on the road at Merchant Marine academy where they dropped 2 out of 3 games. The Express also hit the road for Myrtle Beach early in the season to play 5 games in much nicer weather than Aurora, NY. Unfortunately for Wells College, this was not a very successful trip. they dropped all 5 games giving up double-digit runs in each contest. 

The next part of the season opened up conference play for the Express. It wasn't the best season for the Express in conference play. They came away with only 3 wins in the conference. Two wins at Gallaudet University and 1 win on the road against Penn State Berks. Six out of the 9 wins for the Express came from out of conference games against Cazenovia, Elmira, Merchant Marine, SUNY Poly, Keuka, and Clarks Summit. 

Luke Eitner lead all pitchers with 3 wins, 58.2 innings pitched, and 38 strikeouts. Max Odum was a bright spot on offense hitting.404 on the season and leading the Express in the following categories, AVG, OBP, SLG, Hits, Doubles, Triples, stolen bases, and overall runs. 

Max Odum was named to second-team all-conference in the United east for his performance this season. Max comes to Wells College from Elmira NY and is in his sophomore season. This summer Max will be playing for the Elmira Pioneers in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball league. 

Three student-athletes will be graduating from Wells College and playing their final games this season. Luke Eitner, Ryan Foody, and Ben Beratta. Congratulations and thank you for your dedication to the program!
