MEIER AND ACQUAVIVA EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

(Aurora, N.Y.)- Sophomore Lorelei Meier (Caledonia, N.Y.) and freshmen Alyssa Acquaviva (New Hartford, N.Y.) of the Wells College softball team were recently named North Eastern Athletic Conference North Division All-Conference Second Team selections for the 2011 season.
 
Meier earned all-conference honors at the outfield position where she batted a team leading .414 (24/58) including three doubles and seven RBI. Meier also led the team in total bases (27), base-on-balls (8), slugging percentage (.466), and on-base-percentage (.485). Meier hit safely in 13 of 20 games for the Express, including nine multi-hit games and a 4-4 performance against conference foe Morrisville State on April 21st.
 
Acquaviva earned all-conference honor at the short stop position where she batted .354 in-conference (17/48), finishing with a team leading 13 RBI, along with a .379 slugging percentage, and a .339 on-base percentage. In her last four games, Acquaviva combined to hit 7 for 16, including seven RBI, six runs, and three doubles.
 
The Express finished the season at 3-17 (3-13 NEAC), missing the NEAC North tournament after making their first appearance in the tournament just a year ago.
