EXPRESS FALL IN SEASON OPENING TWIN BILL

(Myrtle Beach, S.C.)─ The Wells College softball team opened their 2011 season with two losses in day one of their spring trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Express fell 8-0 in game one to Potomac State College and then dropped a 13-0 decision to Hudson Valley Community College in game two.
 
In game one, Potomac jumped out to an early 1-0 lead after the first inning and would chalk on runs in the third, fourth, and sixth to seal the 8-0 victory. Lorelei Meier suffered the loss on the mound, tossing six innings, allowing seven earned runs while striking out seven. Meier, Brittany Stanton, Paige Stone, and Juli Vibbard all collected one hit a piece for the Express.
 
In game two, Hudson Valley exploded for 10 runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to the 13-0 win. The Vikings pounded out 11 hits, including five in the first inning. Brittany Stanton suffered the loss on the mound for the Express. Stanton, Stone and Alyssa Acquaviva each finished with one hit for the Express.
 
Wells will continue their spring trip on Tuesday when they take on NCAA Division II member Bowie State at 9:00 am in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
