Women’s Lacrosse Team Falls to Soaring Eagles

The Wells College women's lacrosse team returned to the Wells Turf Field for the first time in almost two years to face visiting Elmira College on Wednesday, March 24. The Express fell to the Soaring Eagles by a 17-3 score.

Defensively, Express goalkeeper Lauren Spiegel (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) faced 32 shots and turned aside 15 with many coming from point-blank range. Offensively, Clara Lima (Hastings Hudson, N.Y.) scored twice and added an assist. Lima tied the game at 1-1 early in the contest. Lydia Thomas (Colton, N.Y.) had the team's other score while Mackenzie Powers (Syracuse, N.Y) finished the contest with an assist.

Thomas also led the Express groundball game with a half-dozen of the team's 23. Powers and Anna Bernatavitz (Elmira, N.Y) finished with three groundballs each behind Thomas.

Wells finished with 11 shots on the day with Lima and Powers each registering four. Thomas had a pair of shots and Julie Barnwell (East Syracuse, N.Y) finished with one.

The Express next host Cazenovia College on Saturday, March 27 with a 4 p.m. start.
