Women's Lacrosse Closes Regular Season With Win

The Wells College women's lacrosse team concluded the regular season with a 19-6 win at Hilbert College on Saturday, April 28. Wells is 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Hilbert is 1-14 overall and 0-9 in the NEAC.

Wells will face Bryn Athyn College in a NEAC playoff game Tuesday at Bryn Athyn.

The Express built a 10-goal advantage in the first half. A run of eight straight goals for Wells gave the Express a 9-1 lead. Wells also scored the last five goals of the first half and led 14-2 at halftime.

Savanah Connors scored a career-high seven goals for Wells. Mackenzie Maloney had seven goals and two assists. With her nine points, Maloney passed the 200-point career milestone and stands at 205 career points.

Julia Smith had two goals and five assists, and Renee Bartosz had two goals and three assists.

Wells held an 18-9 advantage in draw controls, and 11 of those were won by Maloney. Smith had four ground balls and Sam Giovannini had three caused turnovers.

Anna Bozeat made five saves.

The victory was the sixth of the season for Wells, the most wins in a season since 2011, which was also the last time that Wells qualified for the NEAC playoffs.
