Women’s Lacrosse Team Falls in Conference Semifinals

The Wells College women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Lancaster Bible College in the North Eastern Athletic Conference women's lacrosse semifinals on Sunday, April 25. The Chargers won their fourth-consecutive home game in advancing to the NEAC championship.

The Express got one goal in the first half from Lydia Thomas (Colton, N.Y.), and a pair of goals in the second half in a three-minute span from Julia Barnwell (East Syracuse, N.Y.) and Isabella Ciancio (Clinton, N.Y.). Each of the three Express tallies came from free position opportunities.

Lauren Spiegel (Ballston Lake, N.Y) made 10 saves in net and led the team in groundballs with six.

The Express lost the groundball game by a 28-21 margin. Anna Bernatavitz (Elmira, N.Y.) had four groundballs, while Thomas had three and Mackenzie Powers (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished with a pair.

Thomas had a team-high two shots for Wells with single shots coming from Barnwell, Ciancio, Clara Lima (Hastings Hudson, N.Y.) and Kayla Rowell (Cicero, N.Y.).

The Express finish the season with a 1-7 record under first-year coach Alyssa Long.
