Women’s Lacrosse Team Travels to Lancaster Bible College for Conference Semifinal Playoff Contest

The No. 3 Wells College women's lacrosse team travels to No. 2 Lancaster Bible College today, April 25, for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Women's Lacrosse Semifinals scheduled to start at 5 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship game against the winner of No. 4 Mount Aloysius at No. 1 SUNY Morrisville, who also meet today, but at 1 p.m.

No spectators are allowed.

Wells College and Lancaster Bible College last met Saturday, April 17, with the Chargers taking the contest by a 14-3 score. The Express found its rhythm late in that game in producing the game's last three goals during the contest's final 10 minutes.

The Express have been led offensively this season by Clara Lima (Hastings Hudson, N.Y.) and Mackenzie Powers (Syracuse, N.Y.). Lima leads the team in goals with 12, while Powers is the top assist-getter with a half-dozen. The dual also are the team's top-two point-getters with 15 and 12, respectively.

Kayla Rowell (Cicero, N.Y.) finished the season strong with all eight of her goals coming in the last five games.

Defensively, Lauren Spiegel (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) tends the Express net and has registered 92 saves during the regular season. Spiegel was named North Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week earlier this month.

Team Notes

Wells: Wells made the NEAC Playoffs the last time they played in the 2019 season, as the Express lost to Cazenovia in the first round, 14-13 in overtime…Wells had a season-best 22 shots in their 9-7 win over Mount Aloysius in April, and goalie Lauren Spiegel had a season-high 21 saves that afternoon.

Lancaster Bible: The Chargers have made only one other appearance in the NEAC postseason in program history, losing to Medaille, 15-10 in the NEAC Quarterfinals during the 2016 season…The Chargers are 3-2 at home this season, and have won three straight at home…Lancaster Bible is 3-8 all-time against Wells, including this season's victory.
