KEUKA BLANKS EXPRESS

Keuka Park, N.Y.- The Wells College softball team dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games to the Keuka College Storm, losing 8-0 (5 inn.) in game one before falling 5-0 in the night cap on Wednesday in Keuka Park, N.Y. The two losses snap a four game winning streak for the Express who fall to 5-5 (4-2 NEAC), while the Storm improve to 8-0 (8-0 NEAC). Kelly Cornwell (Caledonia, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) was the only repeat hitter for the Express, finishing with two hits, including a double in game two.

In game one, the Storm jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first inning and added five more runs in the second on an error, two walks, and two pass balls as the lead ballooned to 7-0. The Storm added the eighth and deciding run in the bottom of third, cruising to the five inning, run rule shortened victory. Cornwell, Brittany Stanton (Deposit, N.Y./Deposit), and Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y./Madison) all tallied one a hit apiece to lead the Express. Aly Mann (Walden, N.Y./Valley) suffered the loss on the mound, allowing six earned runs on eight hits, while striking out five.

Keuka struck first again in game two, plating three runs on four hits to take a 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Express settled down allowing just two runs over the final five innings, but were unable to generate any kind of offense, scattering five hits, as the Storm completed the sweep.

Lorelei Meier (Caledonia, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) took the loss, tossing six innings, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits, while striking out four.

The Express return to action next against NEAC opponent Morrisville State College in a double-header set for Saturday, April 10th at 1:00 p.m. in Aurora, N.Y.
