Opening Weekend Split For Men's Volleyball

The Wells College men's volleyball team started its 2019 campaign with a pair of matches at the Cardinal Classic, hosted by St. John Fisher College, on Friday, Jan. 18. Wells lost to Endicott and defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology. Saturday's scheduled match against St. John Fisher was canceled due to travel restrictions from a winter storm.

Wells is back in action Friday and Saturday, Jan. 25-26 at the SUNY Poly Invitational.

Endicott 3, Wells 1

Wells took the opening set before falling in four to Endicott, which received votes in the AVCA preseason poll. Set scores were 16-25, 25-20, 25-17, 25-15.

Robert Patzer led Wells with 13 kills and Caden O'Loughlin had 12 kills and eight digs. Wells hit .145 in the match with 40 kills and 24 errors. Josh Undari had 36 assists and four service aces.

Wells 3, Wentworth 1

Wells won in four sets by scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-18, 25-18. Caden O'Loughlin had 20 kills and hit .395 in the match. Robert Patzer had 12 kills, two solo blocks and one block assist. Josh Undari had 42 assists as Wells totaled 55 kills and a .348 hitting percentage.

O'Loughlin served five aces and had eight digs. Ryan Turner had 12 digs and served two aces.
