WOMEN'S LAX TOPS GREEN MOUNTAIN

Aurora, NY –The Wells College Express held off a late rally by Green Mountain College to claim a hard-fought 9-7 victory in women's lacrosse action Saturday.  With the win Wells improves to 3-5 while Green Mountain falls to 4-4.

Goalie Liz Barclay (Laporte, PA) was outstanding on the afternoon, stopping 13 of 28 shots to preserve the win for the Express.  Emily Lotkowictz (Skaneateles, NY) led the Express offense with 3 goals on 6 shots while recording two ground balls. 

Wells opened the scoring early in the first half as Emily Lotkowictz(Skaneateles, NY) Ariella Taft (Cazenovia, NY), and Stefanie Miller (Barton, NY) all scored in the first ten minutes. Wells continued to press, adding 2 more goals courtesy of Taft (15:27) and Lotkowictz (10:38), but the Eagles would strike with three unanswered goals of their own to trim the lead to 5-3 headed into the half. 

The Express would come out hot in the second half, netting four goals in the first thirteen minutes. Lotkowictz would score her second and third goals of the game while Charlotte Fielding (Queensbury, NY) and Gabriella Decker (Encinitas, CA) would each score a goal to extend the Express lead to 9-4.

Green Mountain rallied late in the game, scoring 3 times in the final 2:43, but the Express defense would pick up the pressure, stopping the comeback, sealing the 9-7 victory.

The Express will look to make it three in a row against NEAC rival Cazenovia College on Wednesday, April 15th at 4:00 pm in Aurora.
