Softball Drops Pair; Saturday's Games Moved To Friday

The Wells College softball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader against Keuka College on Thursday, March 28 at the Wells Turf Field. Keuka won the first game 6-2 and took the second game 12-0. These were non-conference games between the two North Eastern Athletic Conference member institutions.

Wells will continue a homestand on Friday, March 29 when the Express begins NEAC play against SUNY Cobleskill with games at 5 and 7 p.m. Please note, these games have been moved one day earlier from the originally-scheduled date of Saturday, March 30.

KEUKA 6, WELLS 2

Keuka scored twice in the second inning and added four in the third inning, but Wells held the Wolves off of the scoreboard in each of the other five innings.

The Express got a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth. Naomi Kubo walked and Autumn McLain singled in the inning, and Wells took advantage of three Keuka errors. Kubo and Gabby Sawyer scored the Wells runs.

KEUKA 12, WELLS 0 (5 inn.)

Keuka pitcher Whitney Tyler pitched a five-inning shutout with eight strikeouts. Wells hits were delivered by Naomi Kubo and Gabby Sawyer, each with a single.

The Wolves broke the game open with five runs in the third and six in the fourth.
