Softball Grabs First Win Of The Season At Keuka

Wells College softball took a break from conference play and traveled to Keuka College on Tuesday afternoon.

In game one, Shay Gonzales leads the game off with a double. She then went on to score when Lauren Kimball forced a throwing error. Kimball reached base on the throwing error and stole home on a double steal with runners on the corners. The Express went into the second inning with a 2-0 lead. In the fifth inning, Gonzales lead the Express off once again with a double and she later scored on a passed ball. Morgan Brown would reach on an error that scored Lauren Kimball which was followed by Serina Sheradin stealing home. Finally, Anna Bernatavtiz singled home Morgan Brown. In the sixth, Shay Gonzales and Serina Sheradin batted in 3 combined runs to give the Express some breathing room and a 9-7 lead heading into the final inning. Sara Mattle pitched a complete game and was able to hold the Wolves off to give Wells College their first win of the season!

Game two was a different story with the Wolves getting a head big early and holding the lead throughout. Shay Gonzales and Sara Mattle batted in the only two runs of the game for the Express in what was a spring blizzard at Keuka College. Megan Litzenberger pitched most of the game in relief of Sara Mattle. The Express fell in game two, 20-2.

Softball will hit the road this Friday for Penn State Berks.
