Penn College Takes Two From Wells Softball

The Wells College softball team fell in a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games Tuesday, April 11 at Penn College of Technology. The host team won the first game 3-1 and took the second game 14-3 in five innings. Penn College maintained its undefeated conference record and is now 6-0 in the NEAC and 9-3 overall. Wells is 3-7 in the NEAC and 3-11 overall.

Wells is back home for conference games this weekend. The Express hosts Cazenovia on Friday at 3 p.m. for a doubleheader, and then Wells hosts Morrisville on Sunday at 1 p.m. for two more games.

Penn College 3, Wells 1

Wells took an early lead with a single run in the top of the second as Clara DiMino singled to bring home Lizzie Monnat. Penn College tied it in the third and went ahead with runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

DiMino's single was the only hit of the game for Wells, but Express batters drew eight walks. Baylee Pearce pitched six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts.

Penn College 14, Wells 3

Penn College scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and added five more in the bottom of the third in cruising to a win. Only one of the eight first-inning runs was earned.

Dallia Rorick had an RBI groundout in the third to bring in Wells' first run. DiMino hit a two-run single in the top of the fifth for Wells to score Rorick and Naomi Kubo.

Kubo and DiMino had two hits each. Both of Kubo's hits were triples.
